Experience Requirements
The Operations Manager must be versatile in many aspects of production, quality standards, company policies and procedures as well as FDA/ISO guidelines and applications. The incumbent must be a motivational support for peers as well as management in the day-to-day operations and planning. Ten plus (10+) years experience in manufacturing operations. Five plus (5+) years previous management experience in a manufacturing environment in the medical device or a technology focused industry. Must have first hand experience with implementing Lean Manufacturing and working knowledge of Six Sigma. Must have knowledge of purchasing techniques, bills of materials and routings, inventory control techniques, and ERP/MRP practices and techniques. Demonstrated experience overseeing EH&S programs required. Experience with leading a multi-shift 24/7 operation is required.
 
Qualification Requirements
An undergraduate degree in engineering, physical sciences or related technical field is required.
 
Preferred Qualifications
APICS Certification preferred. Solid understanding of production administration functions including human resources administration.
 
Responsibilities
The Operations Manager will serve as a leader in the manufacturing organization and help define and implement best practices consistent with a Center of Excellence's goals and objectives. They will be a member of the Teleflex plant management team, helping to develop both short and long term strategic plans. Responsible to direct, coordinate and manage all manufacturing operations to achieve safety, quality, on time delivery, schedule attainment, productivity, and budget goals. Accountable for implementation and maintenance of production methods and tooling applications that optimize the use of production hours, human resources, machines, equipment and facilities. Lead production meetings and participate in planning production schedules, staffing requirements and manufacturing controls to achieve schedule attainment, and on time delivery. Expedite scheduled production, investigate delays, and initiate corrective and preventive actions to assure economical production through efficient procedures and processes. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for meeting internal quality, on time delivery, attainment and productivity goals. Perform those activities necessary for the effective management of the manufacturing operations, including selection and training employees; coaching and motivation; meeting organization goals and objectives; and planning, organizing, integrating, and measuring the work performed within the plant. Communicate and act as liaison with other departments to facilitate material/production flow and prepare written/computer reports concerning manufacturing operations. Work with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Materials, Planning as well as Supervisors to achieve continuous process improvement, cost reduction and lean operations. Assume overall responsibility for the proper sourcing and procurement of materials, supplies and services for the facility. Engage in the more sensitive negotiations for critical and high value items. Control, measure and regulate efficient inventory levels of materials, commodities and purchased components in support of manufacturing operations. Manages the demand management function which serves as the primary input to the master schedule. Ensure the proper implementation of lean manufacturing principles as they pertain to the Teleflex Production System (TPS) lean tools of 5S, continuous flow, standardized work, total productive maintenance and material pull systems. Supervise, coordinate, train, coach, mentor, develop and review the work of assigned staff. Overall responsibility for facility compliance with environmental and safety regulations including but not limited to: New Source Review; NPDES Permits (Wastewater and Storm water); RCRA, CERCLA and EPCRA; etc. Observe and enforce all company rules and policies pertaining to safety, particularly related to hazardous materials and general housekeeping. Ensure FDA, ISO, Teleflex and specific customer quality standards and procedures are implemented and maintained. Perform other duties as assigned or necessitated by business conditions or changes. SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE The Operations Manager must be versatile in many aspects of production, quality standards, company policies and procedures as well as FDA/ISO guidelines and applications. The incumbent must be a motivational support for peers as well as management in the day-to-day operations and planning. A background and working knowledge of cGMPs, Lean manufacturing principles and process monitoring tools is critical. Must also demonstrate a thorough knowledge of manufactured product use and applications. A proven track record of leading change and assisting in building and developing an organization focused on process excellence and continuous improvement is considered vital. The chosen candidate will also demonstrate experience in influencing senior management at all levels across multi functions, regarding best practices, quality and efficiencies. The ideal candidate will have exceptional leadership skills as demonstrated by their ability to make difficult decisions, take calculated risks, lead a diverse organization all the while building a team that is collaborative and results oriented. They understand how to champion teams and develop individuals who can operate in a team environment and manage their functional responsibilities as well. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills is required. This individual will have high expectations placed on them and will be able to deliver against these expectations.
