Teleflex Medical has an immediate opening for a Process Engineer in Asheboro, NC responsible for providing engineering expertise to all manufacturing operations in support of improved quality or production output initiatives as directed by the Engineering Manager.
Asheboro/Randolph County, is centrally located in the Piedmont region within 90 miles of the Blue Ridge Mountains to the west and within 200 miles of the Atlantic Ocean to the east. Asheboro’s central location provides small-town living at its best - close enough to larger cities to have access to the amenities, but small enough to escape such urban problems as traffic congestion, higher unemployment, and an increasing crime rate. City population is 24,130 with county population of 140,145.
Randolph County is adjacent to Greensboro, one hour west of Raleigh and the Research Triangle Park, and 90 miles north of Charlotte. Three international airports are located in less than a two-hour drive. Home of the North Carolina Zoo, Asheboro Copperheads Baseball, & the Uwharrie Mountains
Experience Requirements
Most successful candidate will be experienced in statistical process controls, will have strong troubleshooting experience, excellent communication skills, proven experience in application of lean manufacturing techniques, and application of Six Sigma, proven results in driving CIPs, detailed and results oriented, strong project management skills, validation knowledge, and be a change agent. Candidate must be promotable, self-directed, a team player, and driven for success.
Qualification Requirements
A 4 year degree in mechanical engineering or related field and 5 - 7 years of solid experience in fast paced complex manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Prefer experience in medical device industry and FDA regulated environments.
Responsibilities
1. Determine process capability of manufacturing operations in areas such as injection molding, heat forming
(tipping), thermoforming, coating and assembly operations. Assist technicians with process and product design changes to improve process capability. 2. Provide technical processing support in team-based manufacturing systems and quality systems improvement projects such as implementing improved methods for SPC, yield data collection, and material flow. 3. Perform and document process validation or verification studies in support of new product developments, engineering change orders, yield improvements, and other cost savings efforts. Areas include injection molding, tipping, pressure/flow testing, coating, package sealing, and thermoforming. 4. Improve product quality and output by defining critical quality characteristics and specifying these characteristics on design specifications. 5. Reduce lead time of products by analyzing the local supply chain and material flow from Raw Materials Distribution through Manufacturing, Packaging, and Finished Goods Distribution. 6. Use analytical problem solving skills to resolve problems of company supplier, and field materials or processes that affect cost, delivery, or performance. 7. Apply knowledge to develop production process standards that are repeatable, cost effective, environmentally friendly, and meet contractual and regulatory requirements. 8. Create or revise operator work instructions (process documentation) and design specifications for products manufactured in Asheboro.
9. Design or modify tooling in support of improved manufacturing processes. Perform and document tooling qualifications as required. 10. Specify production equipment requirements and write justification for new capital equipment.
